Ram Mishra
Director, Biomedical Engineering

Dr. Ram Mishra, PhD., is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neuroscience and
co-director of the School of Biomedical Engineering at McMaster University. His continuously funded
research program involves understanding the biochemical and molecular of various neuropsychiatric
illnesses and the development of novel treatments for these diseases. Dr. Mishra has extensive experience
in drug development and behavioural pharmacology, an ideal fit for this project. His highly translational
research program has culminated in spin-off biotech companies (CRP 40 Inc.), multiple collaborations with
major pharmaceutical companies, and a drug pipeline in the late pre-clinical stage (Delivra, Sunovion
Pharmaceuticals). Mishra has published >250 papers and has worked with Hoare since 2014 on developing
drug delivery vehicles for mental disorders, resulting in three papers and two patent disclosures to-date
in addition to four co-supervised HQP. Mishra has won multiple awards for both research and graduate
student supervision and mentorship such as the Meller-Einstein Award (New York) for outstanding
biomedical research, the United Nations Visiting Scientist Award (United Nations), Best Supervisor Award
(McMaster University); Excellence in Research Mentorship Award (McMaster University).
