Michael Adrian Brook
Professor Emeritus, Chemistry & Chemical Biology

Overview

Dr. Mike Brook is Distinguished University Professor Emeritus and Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology Emeritus at McMaster University. His research focuses on the synthesis of silicone polymers for real world applications. His current foci, for which he was awarded a Faculty of Science Chair in Sustainable Silicone Polymers (2019-2024), is the development of processes, starting materials and products that are greener and more sustainable against the metrics of Green Chemistry. These include processes that avoid the need for metal catalysts that could lead from the product, repurposable (thermoplastic) silicone elastomers and compostable silicones. His research group currently comprises a full time research scientist and, depending on the term, several undergraduate researchers.
