Solution structures of sharpless epoxidation catalysts

Abstract

Over the range –43 °C to room temperature, R,R-di-isopropyl tartrate (4) and Ti(OPri)4 form a monocyclic 2 : 2 complex in CDCl3 solution while three sugar derivatives (1)–(3) form tricyclic dimers.
