A facile method to obtain highly wettable, low protein adsorbing pdms-based microfluidic channels

Abstract

The modification of silicone surfaces by a novel surface treatment agent (n-Wet), using a simple method, leads to long-term wettable, low protein adsorbing surfaces. The results demonstrate that after surface treatment water contact angles decreased significantly: the desired wettability can be dialed in simply by controlling the concentration of n-Wet solution. The amount of fibrinogen absorption was dramatically reduced to <0.1 mg/cm2. Aqueous fluids are driven through the treated channels only by capillary forces.
