Jonathan Schertzer

Dr. Jonathan Schertzer is an Associate Professor in Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences and member of the Farncombe Family Digestive Health Research Institute and the Metabolism and Childhood Obesity Research Program (MAC-Obesity) at McMaster. Dr. Schertzer holds a Canada Research Chair in Metabolic Inflammation and guides a research team that examines the connections between metabolism and immunity. The focus of this research program is to understand how nutrients, microbiota and drugs engage the immune system to alter endocrine control of metabolism. This research is relevant to understanding obesity, diabetes, myopathies and functional gastrointestinal disorders.
