Brenda Vrkljan
Professor, Rehabilitation Science

Dr. Brenda Vrkljan is a professor of occupational therapy in the School of Rehabilitation Science. She received her M.Cl.Sc. in Occupational Therapy and her Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Science from Western University. Informed by the principles of aging-in-place of choice and design thinking, Dr. Vrkljan’s research focus is on out-of-home mobility and participation in later life where her research on older drivers has been featured in CAA magazine, the globe and mail, and CBC television. She is leading and co-leading investigations involving older adults funded by AGE-WELL - Government of Canada funded Network of centres of excellence focused on leveraging technology to support healthy aging of older Canadians, and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, as well community-engagement grants from the University. She was a founding member of the executive of the McMaster Institute for Research on Aging (MIRA).
