OBJECTIVE: To examine prospectively the accuracy of an initial diagnosis for fibromyalgia (FM). METHODS: All patients newly referred for rheumatology consultation in a 6-month period were evaluated prospectively for either a preceding, current or subsequent diagnosis of FM.
