J Michael Waddington
Professor, Geography & Earth Sciences

Dr. James Michael Waddington holds a Canada Research Chair in Ecohydrology. He is a Professor in the School of Geography and Earth Sciences at McMaster University. Dr. Waddington completed his M.Sc. in Hydrology and Ph.D. in Biogeosciences at York University. He has over 20 years of both wetland research experience and ecosystem restoration expertise, and co-founded the scientific journal Ecohydrology. Dr. Waddington uses innovative field experimental manipulations and modelling to examine the impacts of wildfire, drought, and resource development on wetland ecosystems. He is working with resource managers, fire managers, and industrial partners to develop innovative ecosystem adaptation, species at risk wetlands habitat restoration and watershed reclamation strategies.
