Nearly a quarter of older Canadians experience some level of social isolation, meaning they have few close social relationships. Being socially isolated can negatively impact a person’s mental and physical health. In recognition of this growing issue in Canadian communities, Drs. Nicole Dalmer, Meridith Griffin, and James Gillett and HPL are researching what public libraries are doing and how they can best support older adults who are socially isolated.
