Abdelsimar II Omar
Assistant Professor, Surgery

Dr. Omar is currently an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at McMaster University and staff neurosurgeon at the Hamilton General Hospital. He is also an Associate Member of the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact. Dr. Omar's research interest lies in leveraging administrative databases in health services and surgical outcomes research. In particular, he is involved in work emulating landmark trials in neurosurgery and neuro-oncology using administrative databases, and examining the role of social determinants of health in brain tumor outcomes. He is currently affiliated with ICES (formerly the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences) for his work in large databases. He is also interested in Global Neurosurgery, and remains as affiliate staff in the Division of Neurosurgery at the Philippine General Hospital in Manila.
