Dante Duarte
Assistant Professor, Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences

Dr. Duarte is Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University, Academic Head of the Geriatric Psychiatry Division, and Medical Lead of the Peter Boris Neuromodulation Centre in Canada. He completed his M.D. and postgraduate training in Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry at Federal University of Minas Gerias, Brazil, and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Neuroscience at Federal University of Minas Gerais and University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Dr. Duarte completed a 3-year Clinical Research Fellowship at Harvard Medical School – Spaulding Hospital. Dr. Duarte is a former recipient of a Distinguished Award from the American Association of Geriatric Psychiatry (AAGP) in recognition of his scholarly contributions to the field of Geriatric Psychiatry. His main research interest relies on investigating the mechanisms and clinical outcome of neurostimulation techniques to drive recovery in older adults with mood disorders and cognitive impairment (including early to late-stage dementia). Thus, improving functional abilities and quality of life in vulnerable population.
