Abstract
Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) is thought to be important in the development of pulmonary fibrosis. However, surfactant protein-C/TNF-alpha transgenic mice do not spontaneously develop pulmonary fibrosis but instead develop alveolar enlargement and loss of elastic recoil.
