Increased oxidative stress after repeated amphetamine exposure: possible relevance as a model of mania

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Acute mania can be modeled in animals using D-amphetamine (AMPH). Acute AMPH injections are associated with monoamine depletion, loss of neurofilaments and neurite degeneration.
