Functional Ambulation Profile

Abstract

A clinical test sequence called the Functional Ambulation Profile has been developed to quantify a sequence of subordinate skills fundamental to human locomotion. Results from 110 profiles taken on mildly to moderately disabled adults revealed the Functional Ambulation Profile to be a clinically practical, valid, reliable, and objective measurement of locomotor skill. Suggestions for clinical use in formulating treatment goals, predicting success, and assessing training effectiveness are presented.
