Abstract
Peroxisome proliferators, which are structurally diverse nonmutagenic agents, induce hepatocarcinogenesis in rats and mice. Exposure to these xenobiotics leads to a rapid and coordinated transcriptional activation of the genes for the peroxisomal beta-oxidation enzyme system pathway in the liver.
