Janet Pritchard
Assistant Professor, Interdisciplinary Science

Dr. Janet Pritchard earned her doctorate in Medical Sciences at McMaster University in 2012. Her dissertation explored the interaction between type 2 diabetes and osteoporosis using MRI and microscopy. Dr. Pritchard has been awarded a post-doctoral fellowship through the St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation. Under the mentorship of Drs. Papaioannou, Adachi and Thabane and in collaboration with the Ontario College of Family Physicians and OntarioMD, Dr. Pritchard will pursue a program of research evaluating a wide-spread standardized clinical decision support system reflecting the current guidelines for osteoporosis care and fracture prevention. This program will be implemented across multiple electronic medical record vendors in Ontario. Dr. Pritchard’s research will inform policy makers, clinicians and scientists of the efficacy, barriers and facilitators of a multi-dimensional implementation intervention for implementing guidelines in family practice for seniors.

Dr. Pritchard is well-published in the field of osteoporosis and has been funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Ontario Graduate Scholarship Fund. In addition to academic successes, Dr. Pritchard is a leader amongst her peers and was awarded the 2011 Mary Keyes Award for Outstanding Leadership and Service toMcMaster University
