Vinblastine‐Induced Erythrocytotoxicity

Abstract

At a therapeutic concentration (10 −6 mol/l), vinblastine causes no significant changes of erythrocyte morphology in whole blood in vitro, but, with 30% red cell suspensions in buffer, the drug is stomatocytogenic. Several pathogenetic mechanisms are considered and the clinical relevance of this finding is assessed.
