Abstract
CONTEXT: Skeletal muscle lipid content is increased in obesity. Recent evidence suggests that fatty acid (FA) storage as triacylglycerol (TAG) represents a metabolically safe pool compared to the more bioactive diacylglycerol (DAG) and ceramide.
