The status of the ICR/RAL, BaF2-TMAE positron camera

Abstract

A novel BaF/sub 2/-TMAE (tetrakis dimethylaminoethylene) detector has been developed which can simultaneously achieve 5-ns timing, 5-mm spatial resolution, and 20% detection efficiency. The chamber can operate in a stable condition for periods of several hours. Results of projection imaging are also presented. The projection images obtained with the 100-cm/sup 2/ sensitive area detector represent the first occasion a distributed source has been used in conjunction with a BaF/sub 2/-TMAE detector for positron imaging.<>
