Athens under the Lex Clodia

Abstract

A scholarly consensus has developed that P. Clodius, the popularis tribune of 50 B.C., expanded Macedonia's boundaries to include much of Greece, thereby making Athens subject to a Roman governor. The evidence suggests, however, that it is more likely that Athens' status suffered little, if at all, because of the lex Clodia.
