SYPHILITIC AORTITIS: AUTOPSY EXPERIENCE AT THE OTTAWA GENERAL HOSPITAL SINCE 1950.

Abstract

Twenty-six cases of syphilitic aortitis were found among 4173 autopsies performed at the Ottawa General Hospital since 1950. Although 10 aortic aneurysms, nine instances of coronary ostial stenosis and five examples of aortic incompetence were present in 20 cases, a clinical diagnosis of syphilitic aortitis had been established in only two patients.
