Optical power monitoring function compatible with single chip integration on silicon-on-insulator

Abstract

A novel monolithic p-i-n waveguide photodiode technology based on implantation into the silicon-on-insulator materials system is outlined. This technology enables multichannel average power monitoring to be integrated on a single chip together with multiplexer and attenuator functions.
