Track formation in clutter using a bi-band imaging sensor

Abstract

In this paper we present an extension of the Markov-chain-based performance evaluation technique for a bi-band two-stage sliding window cascaded logic (2/2/spl times/min) for track formation in clutter. This work has been motivated by a ballistic target surveillance problem based on a bi-spectral satellite observation system. We show how to combine an AND and OR fusion decision logic within the classical performance evaluation approach and how this can result in better performance and serve as a useful tool in satellite tracking system design.
