Position Sensorless Control of Switched Reluctance Motor Drives Based on Numerical Method

Abstract

In this paper, a new position sensorless control method for switched reluctance motor drives is proposed. Rotor position is initially calculated based on the flux linkage-positionphase current characteristics by numerical method. Then, a third-order-phase-locked loop considering the acceleration variation is designed to undermine the impact of current sampling noise and numerical residual error on the estimated rotor position. A new start-up sequence is proposed. Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed position sensorless control method has achieved sufficient accuracy in terms of position and speed estimation.
