Efficient Optical Time Division Multiplexing Scheme Using Solition Interaction

Abstract

A soliton multiplexing scheme to minimize the time-bandwidth product (TBP) is proposed. The soliton multiplexer consisting of a highly nonlinear fiber (HNLF) combines two adjacent fundamental solitons to form a composite soliton. The soliton demultiplexer consisting of a similar HNLF separates the fundamental solitons.
