Takashi Imai
Professor, Physics & Astronomy

Overview

Dr. Takashi Imai is an experimental physicist specialized in quantum condensed matter physics. His research interest is broad, ranging from quantum spin liquid to high temperature superconductivity and strongly correlated electrons. His primary experimental probe is Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance (NQR) conducted at cryogenic temperatures near absolute zero. His laboratory houses three superconducting magnets, covering a wide range of magnetic field between 0 and 16 Tesla. His research team is known to publish high impact papers in top peer-reviewed journals, including the journal Science, Nature Physics, Physical Review X, and Physical Review Letters, based on the research work conducted in his own laboratory involving graduate students. His past honors include Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship and Fellow, American Physical Society.
