- There is conclusive evidence that aspirin is beneficial in patients with unstable angina and that a combination of preoperative dipyridamole with post-operative aspirin is beneficial after coronary artery bypass. The evidence for a beneficial effect of aspirin after myocardial infarction is consistent but inconclusive. The evidence for the use of aspirin alone following coronary bypass is inconclusive. There is convincing evidence that aspirin will reduce the rate of recurrent TIA, stroke, and death in patients with TIA.
