Pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma
Abstract
BACKGROUND: Pleomorphic xanthoastrocytomas (PXA) may recur and demonstrate aggressive clinical behavior with a mortality rate between 15% and 20%. To the authors' knowledge, no histopathologic features currently are known to reliably predict recurrence or tumor progression.
