A New Single-Phase Single-Stage Three-Level Power Factor Correction AC-DC Converter

Abstract

In this paper a three-level single-stage power-factor-corrected ac/dc converter is presented. The proposed circuit integrates the operation of the boost power factor correction and the three-level dc/dc converter., and mitigates the drawbacks found in previously proposed two-level single-stage voltage-fed converters. In the paper., the operation of the new converter is explained in detail., its steady-state characteristics are discussed., and its feasibility is confirmed with experimental results obtained from a prototype converter.
