Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To determine the effect of reamed versus nonreamed intramedullary (IM) nailing of lower extremity long bone fractures on the rates of nonunion, implant failure, malunion, compartment syndrome, pulmonary embolus, and infection. DESIGN: Quantitative systematic review of prospective, randomized controlled trials.
