Devising a model health visitor supervision process.

Abstract

Supervision has long been established in social work practice. Health visiting has no such tradition, yet they too need expert, specialist support, education and management in child protection, argues Christine Byrne. Here she describes health visitors' perceptions of their need for and function of supervision, and a project successfully to pilot-and subsequently implement-a wider health visitor supervision process for child protection work.
