Flow studies of an open jet wind tunnel and comparison with closed and slotted walls

In model tests the influence of the test section configuration, such as closed test section, slotted walls, open jet, on the surface pressure distribution and aerodynamic forces on car models is investigated and compared with results obtained from full scale measurements. The aerodynamic optimization of an open jet test section based on an open jet flow field calculation is described and illustrated by some results of an extensive parameter study.
