Forty Years of Kinesiology: A Canadian Perspective

Abstract

This paper provides a brief history of the world's first two kinesiology programs at the University of Waterloo and Simon Fraser University, and then gives an overview of the development of kinesiology in Canada over the last 40 years. The issues addressed include departmental affi liation and accreditation, the development of provincial and national professional alliances, and the establishment of kinesiology as a regulated health profession.
