Evaluation of a method for the determination of accurate transition energies in the (n, γ) reaction

The problems and limitations that are associated with energy determination of high-energy gamma-ray transitions are examined. The possibility of making use of the escape peaks arising as a result of pair production is explored, particularly with regard to sensing the form of the differential linearity of the spectrometer system.
