COMPARATIVE ASSESSMENT OF ePTFE VASCULAR GRAFT THROMBOGENICITY ON-A-CHIP

Abstract

In this investigation, a microfluidic platform is developed to study the thrombogenicity of ePTFE vascular grafts under physiologically relevant flow conditions. The device is produced using a novel fabrication method which enables users to embed different ePTFE graft surfaces inside a patterned arrangement of channels. In a demonstration of the graft-chip, the occlusal performance and clot-forming ability of two different ePTFE surfaces are compared. Using the graft-chip, we determine that omniphobic lubricant-infused ePTFE grafts show significantly reduced thrombogenicity compared to unmodified controls.
