EXTINCTION OF DIFFUSION FLAMES WITH DILUTED METHANE AND DILUTED PROPANE AS FUELS.

Abstract

In this paper we report results of theoretical and experimental studies related to extinction of laminar diffusion flames with gaseous, hydrocarbon fuels. Extinction experiments were performed on the diffusion flame stabilized between counter-flowing streams of a diluted hydrocarbon fuel (methane or propane diluted with nitrogen) and diluted air. Results were used to deduce the dissipation rate of a scalar quantity at extinction.
