Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To describe the mechanisms of action of bisphosphonates in the treatment of osteoporosis and compare bisphosphonate therapy with other treatments.
OPTIONS: The bisphosphonates, etidronate, alendronate, clodronate, pamidronate, tiludronate, ibandronate and risedronate; combined bisphosphonates and estrogen; combined bisphosphonates and calcium supplements.
