Vitamin E supplementation in coronary artery disease and atherosclerosis

Abstract

Coronary artery disease (CAD) remains a major cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide, despite significant advances in our understanding of the underlying atherosclerotic process, its prevention and treatment. Simple, accessible and cost-effective preventive therapies aimed at reducing the burden of CAD could be of great public health benefit. Therefore, substantial interest has focused on the potential role of antioxidant vitamins in cardiovascular (CV) prevention.
