Component operational experience, degradation and ageing programme (CODAP): Applications and contributions

Abstract

The Component Operational Experience, Degradation and Ageing Programme (CODAP) is an operational experience (OPEX) sharing initiative between international nuclear regulators intended to enhance safety and reliability. Established in 2011, the CODAP is a scope expansion of the OECD Pipe Failure Data Exchange Project (OPDE) and combination with corrosion OPEX contributed to the Stress Corrosion Cracking and Cable Ageing Project (SCAP). The CODAP database contains nearly 4,900 detailed records from 15 countries about the degradation of passive metal piping and components in nuclear power stations. About 69% of the world's gross nuclear electricity comes from reactors operating in countries which are taking part in the CODAP. The scope of the CODAP includes all service experience with degradation and failure of metallic piping and passive non-piping components.
