Equilibrium cycle of the Canadian SCWR with bulk and spatial reactivity control
Abstract
This paper presents a reactivity and power control design using fuel-integrated burnable neutron absorbers and movable control blades. A genetic algorithm technique was used to optimize the insertion of the control blades along the cycle while keeping the sheath temperature as well as the linear element rating, evaluated through coupled RELAP/SCDAP and PARCS simulations, below maximum allowed values.
