Design procedures for slanted-angle SOI polarization rotators

We introduce general design rules for slanted-angle waveguides and novel single-mode SOI polarization rotators based on asymmetric wave-guiding layer structures. Our SOI rotators offer significant advantages in loss, fabrication tolerance and size over III-V devices. © 2003 Optical Society of America.
