Filter Integrated Antennas: Concept and Proposed Design Methodology

Abstract

We present a systematic approach for realization of multi-coupled radiators featuring an integrated filtering effect. Such procedure can be adopted easily either using an electromagnetic simulator, or when building antennas on the bench, by cut and paste techniques. This design routine significantly accelerates the development cycle, and alleviates the need for an exhaustive set of parametric trials or optimization cycles. In addition, such design methodology allows us to synthesize antennas with asymmetric and symmetric transmission zeros in the frequency plane, enabling us to realize large set of complex filter-integrated antennas.
