Relationship between the Vroman effect and surface properties

Abstract

This study was performed in an effort to find a relationship between the Vroman effect and simpler in vitro surface characterizations including single component protein adsorption, surface energetics and elemental surface composition. The results from this work suggest that the Vroman effect with respect to fibrinogen may be predicted on nonabsorbing solid surfaces given only single protein adsorption and contact angle data.
