abstract

  • Abstract Interest in celestial bodies is present in ancient Egyptian religious texts from the Old Kingdom Pyramid Texts onward. However, evidence of astronomical observations is comparatively rare. Sources include instruments, texts used for the decoration of temples and tombs, and other texts such as temple records, star tables, and biographies.
