Water Quality and Fire Protection Trade‐Offs in Water Distribution Networks

Abstract

Key Takeaways Having enough water available for fighting fires is a significant driver in the design of distribution systems. A study was conducted to determine how North American fire protection practices affect water quality. With changes to fire protection practices, water distribution systems might have higher flow velocity, lower capital costs, and fewer water quality issues.
