Software package for the advanced analysis of surface gravity wave data

Presented is the AWAP software package for the advanced analysis of surface gravity wave data. This package consists of a number of routines linked together through a GUI. The routines allow easy 2D/3D graphic representation of wave data as well as the possibility of animation displaying time variation of wave characteristics. Additional module allows mapping of wave rays for the study of wave refraction due to bottom topography and current-induced wave refraction. To allow the computation of wave-induced hydraulic circulation, these routines are linked to a wind-induced circulation model. All of these routines use MATLAB software package, mathematical and graphics subroutine libraries. Consequently, this allows compatibility between PC, MAC, and UNIX platforms as well as a linkage with FORTRAN and C routines.
