Study of photoconductivity in titanyl phthalocyanine (TiOPc) by electric field modulated time resolved fluorescence

Synchronously mode locked dye laser and time resolved single photon counting were used to study the influence of electric field on time resolved fluorescence in particles of Y-form titanyl phthalocyanine dispersed in polyvinyl butyral polymer matrix. For low electric fields, the fast component of time resolved fluorescence showed a decrease in lifetime, while the initial amplitude remained constant. At higher electric fields, both the initial amplitude and lifetime changed significantly. The slow fluorescence component showed only electric field-induced change in amplitude and was assigned to the extrinsic fluorescence from a trapped exciton.
