Spontaneous emission, scattering, and the spectral properties of semiconductor diode lasers

Abstract

The effect of spontaneous emission on the above-threshold spectral output of 1.3- mu m semiconductor diode lasers with internal scattering centers is examined. It is found that spontaneous emission masks the effect of scattering on the spectral properties of diode lasers.
