Nikhil Pai
Assistant Professor, Pediatrics

Dr. Nikhil Pai is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology at McMaster Children’s Hospital. He completed medical school at McMaster University, his pediatric residency at the Hospital for Sick Children (University of Toronto), and his pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital (Harvard Medical School). He is the Medical Lead of the Clinical Nutrition Service at McMaster Children's Hospital, and runs the Pediatric Intestinal Failure program.

Dr. Pai's research program focuses on the role of the intestinal microbiome in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease, particularly through the application of fecal microbiota transplantation. He is principal investigator of The PediFeTCh Trial (Pediatric Fecal Microbiota Transplantation in Ulcerative Colitis), and has expertise in clinical, and basic science studies of host-microbial interactions. He has published, received generous grant funding, and speaks widely about the role of the intestinal microbiome in health and disease.

Dr. Pai is an active clinical faculty member within the division, and actively trains medical students, pediatric residents, and fellows through his busy pediatric gastroenterology inpatient, outpatient and endoscopy practice.
