abstract

  • The development of educational processes with virtual reality devices – and immersion experiences in different metaverse environments – are challenges that require research, technological innovation and the production of new knowledge. A metaverse is a network of virtual environments focused on the social connection of users, forming a metaphorical digital network that replicates or reinvents concrete reality. It is a shared space based on the immersive experience through virtual reality devices. Three-dimensional virtual images and immersion in a metaverse-type virtual world can enable a deeper understanding of curricular content, as well as contributing to the improvement of metacognitive processes. This research develops pedagogical experiments to analyze applications, risks, benefits and limitations in the incorporation of virtual reality technologies in training in Education, Science and Health. It is a participatory action-investigation (Fals Borda, 2009) with the proposal of experiment with these contemporary innovations to create and develop new pedagogical experiences with virtual reality and social interaction in metaverse contexts. It is expected to innovate in proposing a theoretical-methodological framework for new teaching, research and development projects that explore the possibilities and limitations in the use of these emerging technologies.
